Memories of
The Hysterical History of the Trojan War 2015

Pam Opp directed this fun class from 2014-2015

Announcing: “Break A Leg” Theater Class/Production for kids ages 9-13

WHO: Kids ages 9-13 (they must be 9 by September 1st ) with a 20 student maximum.

WHERE: Mountain Road Church 796 South Mountain Road Fruit Heights

WHEN: Fridays 12:15 - 1:45
1st Semester: September-October (class) Cost $20
2nd Semester: January, February, March (work on production-performance at end of March) Cost to be determined soon.

WHAT: Through September-October kids will be learning about theater. The class will include vocabulary, acting skills theater games and the opportunity to do in-class performances for each other. In January auditions will be held for a production to take place the end of March. Students who are in the first semester and continue into the second semester will all get some type of part and depending on returning students I may open up auditions to additional new students.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: I have taught classes similar to this before with older youth and hope to transfer some of the ideas I used with them to the younger kids. I love theater and enjoy helping others learn to love it as well. This is my main goal. I will be holding a meeting for all those interested on August 28th at 12:30 at the building to answer questions.

INTERESTING FACT: “Break a leg” is a friendly, customary encouragement offered to performers prior to a show. It may sound harsh but the expression is said to derive from the idea of a performer, having left the stage being called back from behind the “legs” [curtains on the side of the stage] for an encore.

The Hysterical History of the Trojan War

Monologue for Audition: “Some people think I don’t like sharing, but that isn’t true at all. I love sharing. I mean, what’s not to love about being able to go up to someone and say, “Hey, can I have some of that candy?” And then they give you some! Or, “Can I ride your bike for a while?” And then you get to ride their bike! Sharing is awesome. Sometimes you have to be careful, though. Like if someone comes up to me and says, “Can I have one of your cookies?” Well, if I gave them a cookie, then I might not have any cookies left to share with other people and that would be, like, the opposite of sharing. So I have to say no. Because sharing is really important.”
